WANTED – AEIOU and MiniSite Reviews

aeiouA few months back I gave mini-site providers a hard time since they were all doing the same thing .. or at least showcasing the same thing.

Of course they all argued that behind the scenes they were fundamentally different and gave an incredible value to the price points they charged. Yada, Yada, Yada I said – it may be true but if you don’t showcase your work and only have 10 examples of the same design how do you expect people to believe you?

minisites_comLow and behold a few months pass and its time to give credit where credit is due. We are not quite there yet :-) but today I can say we are on our way to building a nice set of providers for domain owners.

Services such as MiniSites.com and AEIOU.com have constantly (a) expanded their offerings (b) showcased more of their work and (c) communicated a little more about what they actually provide.

Mini-sites are not full scale solutions but they provide the foundation to build on so I believe every domain owner needs to understand and see more of what these people do so this is where you come in.

Tell us about your Mini-site !!

I’m not one to out anybody for doing anything since its your work and if you want to showcase it fine and if you don’t then so be it however here’s an opportunity for site owners, clients of mini-site providers and even mini-site providers themselves to showcase a little more work.

Doesn’t have to be by AEIOU or Minisites.com – use another service?  Post about it and let other domain owners know your thoughts.

Your turn – tell us your story and we will provide a link here to your website for free.

I’ve had sites built and installed as promised by wannadevelop.com. Very fast (7days) and professional.

I’ve been waiting for another minisite ddeveloper to complete a minisite that was promised in 7 days. $350 + 4 months later and excuse after excuse with nothing but a crap blank wordpress template promoting their services!!X#@*!!
I have been hesitant to list their name but I suspect there are many other “clients” that have been ripped off by this person. Are you going to have a “Web Designer’s Hall of Shame” so individuals can give other people the head’s up on these “web design” companies and show others the “quality” work they are providing?

    Great blog, good

My only advice is “Buyer Beware”.

I have fallen for a big name mini site providers pitch, only to be severely disappointed with the results.

Given the offshore development farming this particular company uses I’m really not surprised at the result.

Spend the $200 – $300 buying books and learn how to code yourself.

I’ve not been able to justify the cost of using a minisite developer myself. You are going to need a lot of time to recoup the cost with Adsense even if the site takes off. I have messed around with WP and other software. I also wrote a review DevHub Review about DevHub, a free minisite builder.

With WordPress and it’s free templates and plugins who needs to essentially pay $300+ for someone to write a few words for you?
