I'm with you guys...

There does seem to be a lot of money flowing right now for lead generation and remodeling contractors but like Alan pointed out the key is that you still have to make a business out of it and make it profitable and enticing for someone else to buy.

I'm afraid the times of building a website with a lot of useless traffic that doesn't make any money may be over... just look at Twitter...

The competition seo and ppc wise really seems to be heating up for this sector of the internet but if websites are selling for prices like the ones mentioned above than I imagine it will only continue to progress...

"The domain name itself is almost insignificant because it is not generic"

Correction - the domain name has NO significance here. As Francois said, its purely a business buy just like Insure.com

This is clearly a business being bought with an existing client base, established traffic, and revenue stream. The domain name itself is almost insignificant because it is not generic. There are many variations on the domain name that could have been used with equal results.

I was aware of this one for a long time as I have been active in this vertical before 2006.
To the people that thought previous public big purchases they made was mainly due to the beauty/value of the domain name itself here you have a clear proof that NO!
Confirming what I said, it's the business they acquire because it's highly profitable.

LaNCE,

Yes - the domain has zero to do with it but we both know a whole group of domainers just increased the values of thier domains by a few more imaginary zeros lol

not sure why the WHOIS is not updated but I would assume it has something to do with the portion of the sale "$8.0 million in non-interest-bearing, unsecured promissory notes"

Who knows for sure but it was in the SEC filing - visit secfilings.com and search for quinstreet.
