Adsense Addiction - It’s hurting you…

Congratulations.  You have developed a website and are finally moving in the direction of domain development.

Hold up.  Let’s not get carried away.

You have spent time and money for some kind of development yet the first thing people see when they visit your site are 4 groups of Adsense ads scattered all over the place.

I’m all for Adsense – if it’s done with some class.

Many domainers are not developers nor are they design experts.  However, in order to succeed in development you should become both (ar at least one of the above).

Development (with the right design) will bring much more traffic than you could ever receive by parking a name.

Getting back to the Adsense thing.  Users are not stupid.  If you have a somewhat poorly designed site surrounded by the maximum number of Adsense ads then you are probably never going to see those people again.

Right here you have lost the exact target you started developing for – repeat visitors.

Before you develop stop thinking like a domainer on crack addicted to Adsense revenue and think like a user.  Would you return to a site that was full of Adsense ads with little or no unique content?  Answer is no – and neither would I.

Complement your website with some ads.

DO NOT complement your ads with a website.

I do have to agree with you.

That is why I will have one of my free dating websites Spotlight Celebrity redesigned.

Many people think they can slap on adsense on their pages and they will make lot’s of money - which is not that way (the visitor will leave the website with lot’s of adsense ads).

    Alan,

The problem is that people will not return to these web sites with or without the AdSense block in front users eyes, because such sites don’t use to have any interesting content nor provide any service.

So I may understand the limited brains that adopt these annoying layouts.
They think my visitors are all uniques and probably will never come back again so let see if they don’t leave without clicking my sponsored links.

The only thing they forget is each day there are less idiots browsing pages…

PS: Don’t have any MFA site myself.

I do like your words “limited brains that adopt these annoying layouts” - So true, so very true.
